Late Lascelles does little to stave off relegation worries

An equaliser from Newcastle's club captain in 90+4 would rescue a point for the Magpies but would do little to suggest that the Magpies are anything but creeping towards the relegation trap door.
In a reasonably even contest it had looked as it Villa were about to grasp all three points in their push for UEFA Cup football next season when Ollie Watkins header deflected off Clark and found its way past Dubravka on 86 minutes.
But with the Newcastle front line looking totally impotent it would once more take a set piece and a centre half to register United's only goal. Substitute Jacob Murphy the provider for Lascelles to head home with glee.
A point was not enough though as the weekends results now see Steve Bruce's men just 2 points ahead of a resurgent Fulham and just one place above the drop zone.
