AP and away...

It didn’t take more than 48 hours from the departure of Rafa Benitez for Ayoze Perez to appear in his new Leicester City shirt. The stages presentation of the player must have take a number of days to plan too.

Perez joins the Foxes for a sum of £30m. Having joined the Magpies for just £1.6m in June 2014 he went on to play 179 league games for Newcastle United scoring 42 goals.

His first goal for the club was against Spurs, away, a team he had some success against over the years.

His contract was not due to expire until 2021 but Newcastle United have now cashed in on a player who has reached double figure in each of his last 3 seasons.

After 195 games for United, some of which he endured such vocal criticism that lead to his now famous fingers in ears celebration, his time at the club is over.

It will be hoped that this is not the start of an exodus of United’s better players, with Longstaff widely anticipated to be the subject of a bid from Manchester United.

Good luck Ayoze.
