Mike Ashley: Sale of Newcastle could be weeks away!

Mike Ashley appeared on Sky News this afternoon stating that there is a chance that Newcastle United could be sold ‘before’ the January transfer window.

‘I am hopeful for the Newcastle fans, for the club, for everybody, that I will be ale to step aside and we will be able to get an owner in that will please everybody’

‘Talks are at a more progressed stage than they’ve ever been before’, Ashley continued.

Later the same evening reporters, who’ve been following the club and takeover talks for some time, confirmed they were aware of developments but were not sure how far talk had progressed.

The cynics (and that includes us), will point to the coming transfer window and that Mike Ashley is feeling heat from a number of angles following his appearance in front of a commons committee earlier today where he declared ‘I am not a god’.
